Campus Life

Campus Life

It’s more than just a line in our alma mater, it’s our way of life. Spend a few minutes on campus, and it’ll be yours, too. The K-State community is one big, purple family, and everyone is welcome to join. We believe in creating an inclusive campus atmosphere that offers something for everyone, so we know you’ll find a perfect fit.

Clubs and activities

K-State offers more than 475 student groups, including academic and professional clubs, honorary societies, multicultural groups, faith-based groups and interest-focused clubs. Whether you’re into board games or boxing, you’ll find a welcoming community. You also can start your own group!

Service opportunities

Whether you’re on campus long term or just for a day, you can positively affect your community. Run for office in the Student Governing Association, or volunteer with K-State Proud to help students in need. Or, if you only have a few hours, stop by the Staley School of Leadership Studies to learn about ongoing projects and service teams.

Sports and recreation

Recently, K-State was named the No. 2 most active large campus in the nation, thanks in part to its numerous club and intramural sports. While you’re on campus, check out the Chester E. Peters Recreation Complex, featuring gyms, indoor running tracks, a rock climbing wall and much more. Or, visit the Konza Prairie Biological Station, one of K-State’s numerous research facilities, for a scenic nature hike.

Fraternity and sorority life

Approximately 20 percent of K-State students join a fraternity or sorority. K-State has 30 fraternities and 18 sororities, many offering off-campus housing. The benefits of fraternity and sorority life are many, including lifelong friends, networking opportunities, academic support, social events and the privilege of serving your community.

If you’re on campus for any length of time, you can have an adventure that’s worth writing home about. Cheer on the ‘Cats at a home game, or refuel with a burger fit for a king. No matter your energy level, we can help you craft a memorable K-State experience.

On-campus entertainment

Catch talented students acting in a Nichols Hall performance, explore the insect zoo or visit the Wabash Cannon Bowl in the Union for some friendly competition. If you time your visit right, you also may catch a nationally acclaimed comedian or musician at a McCain Performance Series event, or even an exciting K-State athletic game.

Grab a bite

Satisfy your appetite without leaving campus. Our newly renovated Student Union offers a variety of both local and well-known options, and campus-favorite JP’s Sports Grill offers a full menu and delicious libations. Or, grab a cup of coffee or baked treat at any of our locally owned, on-campus Radina’s locations.
